Hygrometers and Thermohygrometers

Hygrometers and Thermohygrometers

The thermo-hygrometer is the instrument for measuring relative humidity and air temperature. Controlling the levels of these quantities is fundamental both in monitoring environments to ensure the comfort of people and products inside, and in industrial production processes.

In our laboratory we calibrate electrical and mechanical hygrometers and thermohygrometers. Electric thermo-hygrometers normally consist of an indicator and sensors (which may be integrated in the indicator or in an external probe) for measuring air temperature (usually Pt100 or NTC thermoresistances, more rarely thermocouples) and for measuring relative humidity (usually a capacitive sensor). Among the mechanical thermohygrometers, we usually calibrate thermohygrographs consisting of a bimetallic sensor for measuring air temperature and synthetic hair fibre for measuring relative humidity.

Senseca’s thermo-hygrometers are robust and professional portable instruments that enable accurate and reliable measurement of air temperature and humidity. Humidity is measured using a capacitive sensor. When a combined humidity and temperature probe is connected, depending on the indicator used, it is possible to calculate and display relative humidity, absolute humidity, dew point, partial vapour pressure and comfort indices.

In what areas are these instruments used? In all those situations where it is essential to maintain the right level of humidity or where it is necessary to keep products or semi-finished products intact. Examples include food warehouses, agricultural environments, refrigerated supermarket counters, in construction, ports, wood processing, transport, animal husbandry or industrial cooling or heating processes.
