Acoustic Calibrators

Acoustic Calibrators

Acoustic calibrators (also known as sound level generators) are the instruments used to check whether the sound level meter used for the measurements is operating correctly. They are therefore of fundamental importance for checks before any measurement. In some situations that require compliance with laws or regulations, the calibration procedure of the sound level meter prior to measurement is considered mandatory. This allows the sound level meter to provide precise and accurate data. Calibrators provide a precise sound pressure level that allows the sound level meter to be adjusted.

The calibrators are divided into two categories: multi-frequency (or multi-function) acoustic calibrators and single-frequency (usually 1000 Hz) acoustic calibrators in which the generated pressure levels are 94 dB and 114 dB.

Senseca has both Class 1 and Class 2 acoustic calibrators according to IEC 60942:2003 suitable for standard ½” and ¼” microphones.
