Pyrheliometer

Pyrheliometer

Differently from the pyranometer, which is used to measure global solar radiation, the pyrheliometer is used to measure direct solar radiation (W/m2).

The receiving surface must be positioned perpendicular to the sun’s rays, by means of a solar tracker or equivalent. By using appropriate diaphragms, only direct light reaches the sensor surface; the field of view is normally limited to 5° and is also known as DNI (direct normal incidence).

The Senseca pyrheliometer falls within the Class B pyrheliometers according to ISO 9060:2018 and WMO (World Meteorological Organization) guidance and has a field of view of 5°.
