Unlike illuminance, which expresses the amount of light that strikes a surface without taking into account the observer’s point of view, luminance allows the measurement to be expressed taking into account the direction of the observer. It is therefore a matter of evaluating the relationship between the intensity of the light source in the direction of the observer and the affected surface as perceived.
For luminance measurements Senseca has the LP471LUM2 probe to be connected to HD2302.0 or HD2102.1_2 and the HD2021T6 series luminance control transmitters specifically used for road lighting control and for threshold luminance checks at tunnel entrances.
