Of the three wavelengths into which UV radiation is divided, the UV-B spectral range is the narrowest, extending from 280 to 315 nm. In nature, most of the sun’s UV-B radiation is filtered by the atmosphere and only about 10% reaches the earth’s surface.
As with UVA radiation, UVB radiation is artificially generated and is mainly used to test photostability against UV ageing or weathering and for medical treatments.
